RYA Training Courses 

As a recognised R.Y.A. Training Centre, Black Dog Sailing can offer all the R.Y.A. practical courses, from Start Yachting to Coastal Skipper. With a maximum pupil/instructor ratio of 4:1, a very experienced fully qualified Instructor, a superb 44 foot sailing yacht and an extremely competitive price structure, we think our offer is very hard to beat. Please note, we never mix students doing courses and people having a sailing holiday. R.Y.A. courses are more intense. The days are longer and we will do some night sailing. Hence our courses have their own web page and prices.

Which Course should I take ?

Start Yachting
An introduction to sailing for complete beginners. Can be used towards a Competent Crew certificate.

Price per person:-£195 (high) £165 (mid) or £150 (low)

Competent Crew
A more extensive introduction for beginners, building on the skills of the Start Yachting course. It is aimed at those wanting to be active crew members rather than just passengers. Courses are done over 5 days or 3 weekends.

Price per person:- (3 weekends) £525 (high) £475 (mid) or £435 (low)

(5 days) £475 (high) £435 (mid) or £395 (low)

Day Skipper
A course for aspiring skippers with some yachting experience and basic navigation and sailing skills.

Price per person:- As per Competent Crew above

Coastal Skipper
Advanced skippering techniques for yachtsmen and women with considerable knowledge of sailing and navigation.

Price per person:- As per Competent Crew above.
